Brief Family History Continued

That first batch of analysis also showed that the New England Clough, who hadn't been able to find a connection using existing records, was also an exact match, while the Kentucky Clough group representative showed differences at 3 of the 10 markers analyzed.

Although Clough Society members were elated on finally obtaining "proof" of their collective ancestry, that elation was tempered by the fact that the results from the family of the study's originator, representing the Alabama/North Carolina Cloughs, showed differences at four markers. This means that, on the balance of probability, the ancestry of the Alabama/North Carolina Clough's is different than that of the Salisbury Cloughs.

As can be seen by the chart, the Clough/Cluff/Clow Surname DNA Study has continued to analyze Clough's from all over the world. As a result, the John Clough Genealogical Society has been able to identify several Clough branches. These DNA results have breathed new life into the genealogical research of the different Clough branches. In continuing this DNA study the John Clough Genealogical Society is seeking out additional British Clough descendants willing to have their DNA analyzed in hopes of finding out just how John Clough descendants are connected to Richard Clough descendants.
